I’ve always been a romantic at heart. Even before I picked up my first romance novel at a garage sale (Danielle Steele’s Star) and devoured it that first night, I loved fairy tales. Knights in shining armor battling for my hand. Fighting off dragons at castle gates. Defeating witches and spells and creatures of the dark. Riding off into the sunset on a white horse, my dress billowing behind me. Living happily ever after despite stacked odds. These were the things I daydreamed about.

So when my editor at Entangled came to me with a story idea (an erotic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood) I jumped at the opportunity to twist and turn the tale into my own.

I made sure to incorporate the things I love so much about fairy tales, leaving nothing out. DESIRING RED is set in a Victorian gothic castle during a bleak winter storm. Werewolves live within the castle’s stone walls, and are about to welcome a handful of pre-shifters into their pack. Ivy Douglas, donned in a crimson red cloak, is one of them. She’s naïve to the pack’s ways, though she is far from innocent. It is the Alpha’s divine right to have his pick of the pre-shifters, to seduce one of them before they declare their life to another.

Red.

Chosen by the color of her cloak, Ivy can’t deny that part of her is enticed by the cool and controlled Alpha. But deep inside, she cries out for the stranger she met in the caste’s snow-covered garden. The stranger who swept her off her feet and pleasured her senseless in the shadows.

When I was finished writing DESIRING RED, I knew I’d pushed the boundaries of the original fairy tale by crafting a big bad wolf who was ready to eat up the heroine in the most erotic way.

This is not like the fairy tales I read when I was younger.

No, this one explores what happens when two knights fight for the damsel’s hand, beasts lurk within, and happily-ever-afters come in the form of orgasm overload.

This Red Riding Hood is darker, hotter, and so much more fun.

I’m indecisive when it comes to my shoes. Choosing a werewolf mate who’ll be with me until I croak? Pardon me while I take some time to think on it. But a steamy encounter before the final ceremony changes everything.

Reaper, the Omega’s eldest grandson, is fiercely loyal, scorching hot, and built for pleasure. He brings down my defenses, and before I know what’s happening, I succumb to the heat in his touch and the skill of his mouth. I’ve only just met him, but I need him like no other.

As part of my pack duties, I must parade in front of the Alpha, who has first choice of the pre-shifters. Rumors of his dark desires run deep, and I’ve always been intrigued. But the forbidden passion blazing between Reaper and me is too primal to deny. By pack law, Reaper can’t have me until the Alpha makes his choice…but Reaper’s never been one to follow the rules.
