ARC Review: Quinn by J.C. Cliff

Quinn is the first book in the Undaunted Men series from J.C. Cliff. Fans of her Blyss series will recognize Quinn, however you do not need to have read that series to enjoy Quinn. This is a spin-off, but this is the first of two novels featuring Quinn and it does end with a cliffhanger. Luckily readers won't have to wait long to get more of Quinn as J.C. Cliff is releasing the second novel just three weeks after this first installment. After that cliffhanger ending, I am anxious for more!

Quinn owes a debt to the Moretti Mob, so when the debt is called in Quinn has no option but to accept. Quinn needs to track Moretti's daughter down after she ran leaving few clues behind and bring her back to her father. Not only does her father tell Quinn that she is pregnant, but that she has also just murdered someone. But the minute he meets Alexis, he knows that there is more to the story than he was given. Lexi knows that she needs to stay hidden in order to avoid those looking for her. Her friend that helped her escape planned everything for her so that they could meet up when it was safe for him to follow her. But the more she gets to know Quinn, the more she feels safe and her feelings for him start to grow. As Quinn finds himself protecting her and getting to know her better, he realizes that she is nothing like he expected. Both Quinn and Lexi have secrets though, and sooner or later those secrets will catch up with them as will those that are intent on finding Lexi.

I really liked these two. They were perfect together, and their connection was so strong right from the start. It was pretty instant, but it never felt fake or unbelievable. Lexi and Quinn just fit together and worked in a way that is rare and hard to find. I enjoyed seeing them get to know one another and work together. Both of them have a ton of secrets and haven't been able to fully open up to each other here, yet there is also a lot of trust between them. Lexi and Quinn's chemistry was so strong, and the sparks were there right from the start as well as the connection. I am so intrigued to see where things will go from here, because it is obvious that these two have something really special. Even Quinn's dog Kimber knew how different Lexi was right away, and I loved seeing how they bonded so fast as well. Quinn was so used to one night only with girls, and yet with Lexi he knew she was so much more. That bond just continued to grow as the story progressed, and I couldn't get enough of them.

Overall, this was a great first installment to Quinn's story. I felt the heat and chemistry, but also the emotion as well. There was a great balance here between the sweet and emotional moments, as well as the steam and action. J.C. Cliff did a great job of drawing the reader in right away and keeping me captivated all the way through. I am looking forward to seeing more of all these characters in the next book after this cliffhanger, and I can't wait to get more answers! I am so curious as to what is going on and what happened before, and I am really looking forward to seeing what Cliff has in store for us next.
